St Lucia Passport Renewal: Fees, Documents and Process (2026)

St Lucia has the lowest regular government renewal fee of the six jurisdictions: EC$80 (about USD 30) per person in country, or EC$130 (about USD 48) for the express service, set in East Caribbean Dollars; the New York consulate charges its own schedule of USD 135 routine and USD 170 urgent. Standard processing is 3 to 4 weeks, up to 6 weeks via consulate, and the renewal is remote through embassies, consulates or accredited agents. The distinguishing fact: since 5 August 2025 adults receive 10 year passports, replacing the previous 5 year validity, with no fee increase. Adult passports issued since 5 August 2025 are valid 10 years; children under 18 receive 5 year passports.

Every figure below is quoted in the currency the government actually sets it in, with an approximate US Dollar equivalent, and carries the official source it was verified against. Documents and process

What you need, and the process step by step

Required documents

  • Completed application form
  • Expired or current passport
  • Recent passport size photographs
  • Birth certificate or citizenship certificate

The process, in order

  1. Start at least three months before expiry. St Lucia has experienced processing backlogs, so early filing protects travel plans; many destinations also require six months of remaining validity.
  2. Gather the documents. The completed form, the expired or current passport, recent photographs and the birth or citizenship certificate are assembled.
  3. Attend the interview where it applies. Applicants aged 16 and over complete a mandatory interview, virtual or in person, introduced as part of enhanced due diligence.
  4. Submit in country or abroad. Applications go to the passport office in St Lucia, a St Lucian embassy or consulate, or an accredited agent; some authorised agent portals accept online submission.
  5. Pay the fee on the applicable schedule. EC$80 regular or EC$130 express in country; the New York consulate charges USD 135 routine or USD 170 urgent on its own schedule.
  6. Government processing. Standard processing is 3 to 4 weeks, or up to 6 weeks via a consulate as the file travels for printing.
  7. Collection or courier. The new biometric passport is collected or returned by secure courier.

Renewing from abroad

St Lucia renewals are handled remotely through embassies, consulates or accredited agents, with online submission available through some authorised agent portals. Consular filings take longer, up to 6 weeks, because the file travels to St Lucia for printing and back, and consulates charge their own schedules: the New York consulate lists USD 135 routine and USD 170 urgent, figures that sit on a separate consular schedule rather than converting the domestic EC$80 fee. Applicants aged 16 and over complete a short mandatory interview, which can be held virtually, so distance is no obstacle.

Biometrics and deadlines

The recorded requirements for St Lucia

St Lucia has issued biometric passports to all citizens since 2022, and no separate enrolment programme applies to renewals; the operative change is the move to 10 year adult passports on 5 August 2025, with no fee increase. St Lucia is an ECCIRA member state. The Eastern Caribbean Citizenship by Investment Regulatory Authority (ECCIRA) framework, established in December 2025, would introduce mandatory biometrics, a 30 day physical presence requirement within the first five years and an initial 5 year passport upgraded to 10 years after orientation across its five member states. Its implementation has been postponed from April 2026 to mid 2026, and existing renewal rules remain in force until it takes effect.

Why requirements change. Governments periodically revise passport validity, biometric standards and presence requirements as programmes are modernised and regional frameworks such as ECCIRA take shape. We record each verified change in the regulatory change observatory. Recorded for information only from official sources as at the last-checked date. This is not legal advice. Families

Renewing as a family

Each family member applies individually. No separate child fee is published, so the in country regular fee of EC$80 (about USD 30) applies per person, which keeps even a family renewal among the lowest cost of the six jurisdictions.

Reviewed by Vito Magagnino, Chief Executive Officer, Mirabello Consultancy. Mirabello has handled more than 1,500 passport renewals across the six CBI jurisdictions. Renewal is an administrative service with published government fees; where a file is straightforward and the holder is comfortable with the process, doing it directly is a perfectly good outcome, and a consultation will say so.
